STAFF & BOARD

Kristin Bowling
Founder, Executive Director

Kristin served as a ranger and peer leader in interpretation and education in the National Park Service for 15 years, and earned a Master’s degree in education at Portland State in 2012. After many years of living in rural areas around the Pacific Northwest, she fell in love with Portland’s wildland-urban interface. Her work coordinating after school programming at a SUN School and leading a Teen Naturalist Team for Portland Parks and Rec got her thinking about how to better connect youth from historically marginalized communities with our amazing urban greenspaces, and she began efforts to found UNP-PDX in fall 2013. Kristin spends her spare time kayaking, hiking, motorcycling, and exploring around the PNW; engaging in additional social and environmental justice advocacy balanced with meditation; and cooking up a feast from her garden plot.

Jasmine Devora
Project Zero Intern- Program Coordination & Fundraising
Jasmine was born and raised in Portland, Oregon and has not taken living in such a green, community driven area for granted! To contribute to environmental stewardship she enrolled in PGE Project Zero, which connects young adults like herself to various nonprofit organizations that educate about the impacts of environmental injustices, specifically in neighborhoods disproportionately impacted by climate change. As UNP’s 2024 PZ intern, she experiences first hand the importance of equity and inclusion in outdoor spaces, exploring the social and environmental issues that affect marginalized youth. For the duration of her internship with UNP, Jasmine will be helping facilitate group outings, aiding in fundraiser planning, and learning all the ins and outs of small nonprofit organizations. Outside of work, Jasmine likes to spend time with her cats, family, and friends, and really wants to learn how to ride a bike this year!
